Behind the Scenes at Sunshine Academy: The Journey from Idea to Course

At Sunshine Academy, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes, and we want to share with you the exciting process that brings our ever-growing library of content to life! Every day, we’re working on new projects, fresh ideas, and new learning opportunities to support the SEND community.

It all starts with an idea. We gather inspiration from the community, listen to feedback, and then work collaboratively with our team of advocates to develop an engaging and relevant course outline. Once the outline is approved, it’s time to bring the vision to life.

Production: Bringing Ideas to Life

We’re passionate about creating content that speaks to the lived experiences of the SEND community. That’s why we’re involved in every step of production, from setting up a film shoot in one of our dedicated hubs (we’ve got a brand new space in our office solely for this!) to filming the video elements of each course. It’s a fun, dynamic day filled with creativity, collaboration, and a lot of energy.

Editing and Building the Course

After filming, it’s time for the editing process. This is where the magic happens. We work hard to shape the videos, add graphics, and make everything flow smoothly. But that’s just the start. Alongside the video content, we also build out other course elements, such as e-books, quizzes, audio files, and any additional resources that make the learning experience interactive and engaging.

A key part of our content is the read-a-long stories and early years learning resources. These include carefully designed books and courses that help young children with their reading and maths skills. We create engaging, fun, and educational stories that not only teach core skills but also reflect real-life experiences within the SEND community. Reflecting the Community

One of the things we’re most passionate about is ensuring our content reflects the voices of the SEND community.
